Privacy Policy

Legal entity: IBKR Invest Inc.
Who We Are and Why This Matters
IBKR Invest Inc. operates from 1035 Rue Hermine, Montréal, Quebec H2Z 1M9. We're a registered introducing broker — which means we handle sensitive financial information daily. We take that responsibility seriously, and this policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what happens to it.
We're a small team. Four people manage client relationships, compliance, and operations. That means your data isn't floating through a labyrinth of departments — it's handled by the same people you speak with on the phone. We think that matters.
What We Collect
When you fill out our contact form, we collect your name, email, company name, company stage, and approximate asset size. That's the minimum we need to understand your situation before our first conversation.
If you become a client, we also collect the financial data necessary to manage your brokerage account — identification documents, tax information, account balances, and transaction records. Canadian securities regulation (CIRO and AMF) requires us to maintain this information.
We collect website analytics data (pages visited, time spent, referring sites) through cookies. We don't sell any of this. Ever.
Why We Collect It
Contact form data helps us understand your situation before our first conversation. If you tell us you're a Series A company with $7 million to manage, we come to that call prepared — not cold.
Client financial data is required by CIRO and AMF regulations — we couldn't operate without it. Know-your-client (KYC) requirements, suitability assessments, and anti-money-laundering obligations all demand specific financial information from every account holder.
Website analytics help us understand which content is useful and which isn't. When we saw that our article on CCPC passive income thresholds was getting ten times more traffic than anything else, we wrote three more pieces on the topic. That's the extent of what we do with browsing data.
How We Protect It
Client financial data is stored with our clearing firm under their institutional-grade security infrastructure. Our clearing arrangement means client securities and account records benefit from the same protection used by much larger dealers.
Our internal systems use encrypted storage, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access controls. Not every team member sees every piece of data — access is granted based on what each person needs to do their job.
Camille Fournier, our Chief Compliance Officer, oversees data security protocols. She built our compliance infrastructure and maintains all CIRO and AMF reporting. We undergo annual compliance reviews by CIRO, which include examination of our data handling practices.
Who Sees Your Data
Your data is accessible to IBKR Invest team members who need it to serve your account. With a team of six, that's a short list.
Our clearing firm has access to the data necessary to settle trades and custody assets. They're bound by their own regulatory obligations regarding data protection.
We may share data with regulators (CIRO, AMF, CRA) when legally required. This is standard for any regulated brokerage — when a regulator asks for records during an audit or investigation, we're obligated to provide them.
We do not share your data with marketing partners, affiliates, or anyone else. Full stop.
Cookies and Tracking
We use analytics cookies to understand site traffic patterns. These tell us things like how many people visited the performance page last month and whether visitors from Québec City tend to read different content than visitors from Montréal.
No personal financial data is stored in cookies. Your account balances, portfolio positions, and transaction history never touch your browser's cookie storage.
You can decline cookies when prompted, and the site works fine without them. Every page loads, every form submits, every tab panel switches. We built the site to function fully regardless of your cookie preference.
We do not use retargeting pixels or sell browsing data to ad networks. You won't see IBKR Invest ads following you around the internet after visiting our site.
Your Rights
You can request a copy of all data we hold about you. We'll compile it and send it within 30 days — usually faster, because we're a small team and can move quickly.
You can ask us to correct inaccuracies. If your company name changed, your address updated, or we have something wrong — tell us and we'll fix it.
You can request deletion, subject to regulatory retention requirements. Securities regulation requires us to keep certain financial records for seven years after account closure. We can't delete those ahead of schedule, but we can delete any data not subject to regulatory holds.
For any of these requests, contact us at contact@ibkrinvst.com or call (579) 695-9490. Ask for Camille Fournier if your request involves account-level data.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and note the date at the top. If you're reading this in 2028 and it still says "November 2026," that means nothing has changed — which, for a privacy policy, is usually a good sign.
We won't materially change how we use existing data without reaching out directly. If we ever decided to do something fundamentally different with client information (we can't foresee why we would), you'd hear from us before reading it on a webpage.
Questions?
If anything in this policy is unclear, call us. Seriously. We'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone explaining our data practices than have you wondering.
