These terms govern your use of ibkrinvst.com and any brokerage services provided by IBKR Invest Inc. They're organized as distinct blocks so you can find what you need quickly.
Scope of Service
IBKR Invest Inc. provides securities brokerage services as a registered introducing broker. We are not a bank, not a financial planner, and not a tax advisor. Our services include trade execution, portfolio construction, and investment strategy recommendations. All investment decisions are ultimately made by the client.
Regulatory Status
IBKR Invest Inc. is registered with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), Registration No. MR-2007-4821, and authorized by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), Permit No. QC-BD-2007-0339. Client assets are held and custodied by our clearing firm and protected under CIPF coverage up to applicable limits.
Risk Acknowledgment
All investments involve risk, including the possible loss of principal. Past performance does not guarantee future results. The value of your portfolio may fluctuate, and you may receive back less than you invested. IBKR Invest does not guarantee any specific returns or outcomes.
Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete information regarding their financial situation, investment objectives, and risk tolerance. Changes in circumstances should be communicated promptly. Clients are responsible for reviewing statements and reporting discrepancies within 30 days.
Fees and Compensation
Fees are disclosed in your client agreement and range from 0.45% to 0.85% annually based on assets under administration, with a minimum annual fee of $3,500 for accounts under $500,000. IBKR Invest does not receive trailer fees, referral commissions, or embedded compensation from product manufacturers.
No Guarantee of Availability
While we strive for consistent service, market conditions, system outages at our clearing firm, or regulatory halts may temporarily affect trade execution or account access. IBKR Invest is not liable for losses resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Termination
Either party may terminate the brokerage relationship at any time with written notice. There are no early termination fees or lock-in penalties. Upon termination, we will facilitate an orderly transfer of assets to your designated institution.
Intellectual Property
All content on ibkrinvst.com — including market commentary, research reports, and educational materials — is the property of IBKR Invest Inc. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written consent.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from these terms or the brokerage relationship shall be resolved in the courts of the judicial district of Montréal.
